Resetting your skill points in Dungeon Siege 2 is entirely possible, but the "right" method for you depends on your priorities. If you want a "legit" and balanced experience that feels like part of the game's natural design, the Broken World expansion's NPC is your best bet. However, if your goal is to freely experiment with character builds or simply correct a misclicked point, the community mods offer a simpler, more powerful, and risk-free solution.
| Method | How It Works | Platform(s) | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | | An in-game character (a 'respec guy') resets skill points for gold in the Broken World expansion. Available shortly after completing the early parts of the game. | Broken World Expansion | | Mods - One-Click Button | Adds a custom button to the hotbar/powerbar that, when clicked, instantly resets all allocated skill points for the selected character. | Base Game & Broken World | | Mods - Special NPC | Replaces or adds an NPC (e.g., a bartender) to a town, which you can then interact with to reset your character's skills. | Base Game & Broken World | | Mods - Advanced Skill Unassignment | Allows you to right-click individual skills to remove points from them, providing granular control. Note this respects skill tree dependencies (cannot remove a prerequisite skill if a higher-tier skill is still invested). | Base Game & Broken World | | Mods - Respec Potion | Adds a special "Respec Potion" to your inventory when you first load the game. Using it resets the player character's skill tree. | Base Game & Broken World | | Cheat Trainers | Third-party programs that run alongside the game. They can grant features like infinite skill points to freely reallocate, but may flag your save as a "cheater". | Base Game & Broken World | | Console Commands | For PC players, you can use developer console commands like advskill <skill> <number> to directly adjust skill points. This method may also label you as a cheater. | PC (Base Game & Broken World) | Use them wisely
The respec option in Broken World is repeatable, but the NPC's additional services come with irreversible consequences. The same NPC can exchange attribute points for reputation, unspent ability points for attribute points, and unspent talent points for ability points. Once you perform these exchanges, resetting your skill points later will undo the transaction. Reloading an older save is the only way to reverse those specific trades.
