The movie revolves around the story of a former detective, Jae-il (played by Kim Yoon-seok), who is struggling to make a living. He becomes a private investigator and starts working for a local agency. One day, he receives a visit from a desperate mother, Soo-jin (played by Kim Mi-kyung), who asks him to find her missing daughter. As Jae-il delves deeper into the investigation, he discovers that the girl's disappearance is linked to a serial killer.

The plot is set in motion when two of his women disappear, which he initially assumes is a case of them running away. Frustrated by his financial losses, Joong-ho forces a sick Mi-jin, a single mother struggling to make ends meet, to take a call from a persistent client. The twist is that Joong-ho realizes this same client's number was the last one dialed by his missing girls. Convinced he is dealing with a human trafficker, he sends Mi-jin on the job, instructing her to text him the client's address so he can confront him. This seemingly simple plan unravels into a terrifying cat-and-mouse game when we, the audience, discover that the client, Young-min, is not a trafficker but a remorseless and prolific serial killer. What follows is a desperate, time-sensitive race as Joong-ho, now driven by a flicker of a conscience, hunts for Young-min to save Mi-jin before it's too late.

The cast of "The Chaser" delivers outstanding performances that bring the story to life. Kim Sung-su, in the lead role of Seo Do-cheol, showcases his impressive acting range as he navigates the complex and treacherous world of the plot.
